Khimtrast PM Hard polyurea — wear-resistant sprayed coating

The hard grade of the PM system is designed primarily for wear rather than waterproofing: it is sprayed onto industrial floors for vehicles, dump truck bodies and railway wagons, and elements of production sites. Shore A hardness of 90–100 and tensile strength of 19–21 MPa are combined with an elongation of 300–400%, adhesion to concrete is 2.52 MPa and to steel 2.44 MPa. Like the other grades, the compound is applied only with high-pressure rigs at 150–250 bar; service from −50 to +80 °C.

Typepolyurea
Basetwo-component sprayed polyurethane-polyurea: component A — polyamine hardener (viscosity at 25 °C 1,200–1,700 mPa·s, density 0.97–1.04 g/cm³), component B — isocyanate-based prepolymer (500–1,500 mPa·s, 1.10–1.16 g/cm³)
Packagingcomponent A: 200 kg, 50 kg, 20 kg; component B: 220 kg, 50 kg, 20 kg
Application methodindustrial floors for vehicles, protection of dump truck bodies and railway wagons, strengthening of elements of production sites; the PM grade system as a whole — for waterproofing concrete and protecting metal in the zone of alternate wetting and immersion; spraying only with high-pressure rigs at 150–250 bar (brush, roller, squeegee and paint sprayers are unsuitable); ratio A:B = 100:100 by volume; mix component A thoroughly before use; preliminary coat of about 0.5 mm with a 5 min wait; the next coat no later than 12 h, with an interval of more than 12 h — Primer-PM (1K) or Primer-PM (2K) dried to degree 3; after 24 h Khimtrast PU Enamel for polyurea is recommended for UV protection; recommended rigs: Graco Reactor 2 E-XP2, 2 H-XP2, 2 H-XP3, Reactor 3 E-XP1, 3 E-XP2, Gama EVOLUTION G-250H, G-35H, G-50H, Proton E-6ms, PUSMAK KPX 20+, KPX 40, KPX 50 (not recommended: Graco E-10hp, Reactor 2 E-XP1, Gama Spray Hydraulic, Proton E-6); cleaning — acetone, ethyl cellosolve, dimethylformamide; temperature of component A 65–70 °C, component B 50–60 °C, hoses 65–70 °C; concrete — abrasive blasting or mechanical treatment (grinding, milling), dust removal, repair of defects with cement compounds or Primer-PM (2K) with quartz sand 0.1–0.3 mm (1:3 or 1:4 by weight), priming with Primer-PM (1K) or Primer-PM (2K), concrete moisture max 6%; metal — Sa 2.5 or St 3 (ISO 8501-1), roughness 60–150 µm (ISO 8503-2), dust level per ISO 8502-3 reference 2 or 3, within 8 h Khimtrast PM Metal Primer 1K (in some cases application without primer is permitted); wood — free of dust and oils, residual moisture max 8%; old roof — cleaning, opening up and removal of defective areas, filling, Primer-PM (1K) or a thin layer of PU foam with a density of at least 40 kg/m³; over PU foam with a density of at least 40 kg/m³ (e.g. Khimtrast SKN-40 G3) — after 24 h, remove dust and degrease
Application temperaturepolyurea application from −20 to +35 °C (positive temperatures recommended); substrate at least 3 °C above the dew point; air humidity max 85% (max 75% when working with primers); Primer-PM (1K) — from −10 to +30 °C, Primer-PM (2K) — from +15 to +30 °C
Curinginitial cure less than 30 s at 20 °C; foot traffic after 1 h, vehicle traffic after 168 h (7 days)
Key propertiesnominal tensile strength 19–21 MPa; relative elongation at break 300–400%; Shore A hardness 90–100; watertightness at a hydrostatic pressure of 0.3 MPa (at least 24 h) — no signs of water penetration; water absorption in 24 h max 2 wt. %; Taber abrasion resistance (H-18, 1,000 rev) 28.6 units; adhesion: concrete 2.52 MPa, concrete + Primer-PM (1K) 4.20 MPa, steel St3 or Sa½ 2.44 MPa; service temperature from −50 to +80 °C
Layer thickness3 mm — for coatings subject to impact and abrasive loads; 2 mm — for waterproofing; preliminary coat about 0.5 mm
Consumptiontheoretical, in one coat: 1.1 kg/m² at 1 mm, 2.2 kg/m² at 2 mm, 3.3 kg/m² at 3 mm (laboratory; actual consumption is 5–40% higher)
Shelf life6 months from the date of production; storage and transport at +10…+30 °C in closed original packaging away from moisture and sun; use up opened containers completely or purge component B with dry nitrogen or argon
