MASTERBENT® L bentonite mat — laminated bentonite waterproofing
Laminated bentonite mat for foundations, tunnels and trafficable roofs; chemical resistance in the pH 1–13 range.

The BentIzol® SB 4 mat is the lightweight version of the natural sodium bentonite series: with a lower clay content it maintains a permeability coefficient of no more than 0.9×10⁻¹¹ m/s. Static puncture resistance is at least 1.8 kN, hydrostatic pressure up to 7 atm, chemical resistance pH 4–11. The material is used for anti-seepage liners of canals, ponds, fire-fighting ponds, MSW landfills and heap leach pads; it self-heals when punctured or cut.

|---|---|
| Type | bentonite waterproofing |
| Use | hydraulic structures and dams, tanks and pools |
| Base | geosynthetic roll material: needle-punched carrier of woven (160 µm) and nonwoven (200 µm) polypropylene with bentonite granules (natural sodium bentonite); polymer additives are not permitted |
| Packaging | roll 5 × 40 m, weight 880 kg; on a core in a sealed polyethylene film sleeve |
| Application method | compact the base or embankment and clear it of debris, stones and vegetation; unroll the roll with the “black side” down; longitudinal overlap at least 15 cm, transverse at least 30 cm, stagger transverse joints by at least 30 cm; spread bentonite granules evenly in the overlap, about 0.5 kg per linear m; protective cover layer at least 30 cm; laminated layer facing the more aggressive side, overlaps “mat to mat”, “film to film”; on slopes steeper than 1/4–1/5 (depending on soil type) — a cellular geogrid with anchors through the mat, sprinkle puncture points with granules; on vertical surfaces — construction stapler, fastening gun |
| Application temperature | installation in any season at any temperature |
