PPVU-1 are pillows in a special-fabric casing filled with a dry mix of active substances. They are used to close cable penetrations (including in the Shchit-AK-3 system), openings and voids in walls and floors, and for temporary sealing; no special tool is needed for installation. The fire resistance rating is EIT up to 180, and up to 240 with fire-protective topcoats. The pillows are resistant to ionising radiation and are used at NPPs; the service life is at least 10 years.
