Bentonite waterproofing

SAB 4 contains less bentonite than SAB 5, so a 5 × 40 m roll is lighter and weighs 880 kg, while the permeability coefficient remains at no more than 1.0×10⁻¹¹ m/s. It is based on activated sodium bentonite in a needle-punched carrier of woven and nonwoven polypropylene. The mat withstands up to 7 atm of hydrostatic pressure, is resistant to media with pH 4–11 and is suitable for liners of water bodies, canals, fire-fighting ponds, tailings storage facilities and heap leach pads.
